Our FREE hands-on workshops will be coming to Nanyang Technological University on 19 April 2017. Our workshops provide educators and those involved in research with a valuable opportunity to learn more about COMSOL Multiphysics and its many applications. With a brief introduction and live demonstration, these workshops are designed to cover the fundamentals of modelling simulations in COMSOL Multiphysics. The hands-on portion of the workshop allows attendees to test drive the software by building a model from scratch, allowing each person to leave with the ability to experiment with their own simulations in COMSOL Multiphysics.

Time Programme
9.00am – 9.30am Discussion

Modelling the Harmonic Excitations of Linear Systems

  • Verification example: A Spring Mass Oscillator
9.30am – 12.30pm Workshop 1

Electromagnetic, Thermal and Structural Analyses of Low Frequency Devices with COMSOL Multiphysics

  • Learn how to simulate low frequency devices such as coils, magnets, transformers, actuators and sensors
  • Modules involved and their key features
  • Typical boundary conditions
  • Meshing techniques
  • Simulation workshop
  • Hands-on exercise
2.00pm – 5.00pm Workshop 2

Simulating Fluid-Structure Interaction in COMSOL Multiphysics

  • Learn how to simulate different types of FSI applications
  • FSI couplings
  • Laminar flow and turbulent flow models
  • Fluid flow and structure interface boundary condition
  • Moving mesh
  • Meshing Techniques
  • Direct and Iterative solvers
  • Hands-on exercise

  • The workshops will require you to bring your own laptop. Note that COMSOL version 5.2a doesn’t run on a 32-bit Operating System. Please visit System Requirements to see the minimum configuration COMSOL requires for installation.
  • Participants will be provided with a FREE 2-week COMSOL product evaluation license after they attend the workshop.
